Social Sciences and Humanities in Belarus — 2025
We publish Andrei Kazakevich’s presentation “Social Science and Humanities Belarus 2025”, prepared for the 12th International Congress of Belarusian Studies in Berlin. It examines researcher numbers, research expenditure, scientific book publishing and dissertations in Belarus.
The presentation records a recovery in researcher numbers following the declines of the early 2020s and rising research expenditure since 2022. At the same time, overall scientific output has declined over the past five years, and the Belarusian research community remains one of the smallest and most underfunded in the region.
